The Minister of Solidarity opens the first branch of Human Fraternity Restaurants, which provides free meals to vulnerable families

Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, opened the first branch of the “Fratello” chain of human brotherhood restaurants.

This came in the presence of Monsignor Dr. Younes Lahzi Gaid, President of the Human Fraternity Foundation, Ambassador Nabila Makram, former Minister of Immigration, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Religious Affairs, and a large group of ambassadors and public and influential figures from inside and outside the Arab Republic of Egypt, and a group of first-care families from All over Cairo.

This opening came in implementation of the protocol that was signed between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Human Fraternity Foundation in May 2023 regarding this initiative, whereby the restaurant will provide nutritionally complete and free meals to the families in need of care and to individuals who are unable inside the restaurant, and provide food in a way that preserves their dignity by treating them just like restaurant customers. .

The idea of the restaurants is based on the principle of brotherhood and solidarity, as meals will be provided to all groups in society through the contribution of those who are able to bear the burden of the cost of a meal for those who are unable. People and organizations wishing to support this initiative will be able to charge prepaid cards to bear the costs of meals for the families targeted to be helped, in addition to The initiative will collect donations and various contributions from those with social responsibility who wish to join this initiative.

The restaurant offers a unified menu for all categories, containing many options, and there are meals intended for children with complete nutritional and health value, similar to the “Happy Meal” experience in commercial restaurants.

The Minister of Social Solidarity stressed that brotherhood is the universal bond of humanity, in which class, religious and political affiliations dissolve, and it helps bridge societal gaps and increase equality of opportunities, noting that this work develops a sense of society’s responsibility towards others, and contributes to strengthening the idea that good nutrition is a right for the poor, Contributing to ensuring these rights is a duty for everyone, especially financial institutions and economically capable groups.

Al-Qabbaj added that the Human Fraternity Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization that raised its slogan to support human brotherhood, and adopted the message of spreading the values and principles of the Human Fraternity Document. This foundation was established as a result of the Human Fraternity Document signed by His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, where it went out to Al-Nour in 2022, and in just two years, it quickly rolled up its sleeves and became a major figure among Egyptian civil society institutions. This promising organization produced several projects, including medical convoys, the “Bambino Chizo” Children’s Hospital, and the Human Fraternity School for People with Disabilities, in addition to a chain of restaurants. Human Fraternity "Fratello".

The Minister of Social Solidarity stated that the state is keen to adopt programs that consolidate the principles of social justice, and for this it has allocated large budgets annually, whether allocated for cash support, or to support food supplies and bread, in addition to what the Ministry of Solidarity and Civil Society provides in terms of food cartons and meat to local communities. Announcing that the Ministry intends to contribute to the cost of this project by 20%, whether from support financing or from the solidarity sector of Nasser Social Bank.

For her part, Ambassador Nabila Makram, founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fahim Foundation, referred to the cooperation protocol between the Human Fraternity Foundation and the Fahim Foundation for Psychological Support, stressing that the idea of the Human Fraternity Restaurant Series is a form of psychological support for the most needy groups, and it is a form of support and support for the family in light of the conditions of high prices for The way for the able to contribute to bearing the burden and cost of the meal for the unable. It is a unique idea of its kind implemented for the first time in Egypt, and I expect its success in all governorates.
